If you’re like most people these days, you’ve been riding an emotional rollercoaster of fear, anger, grief, helplessness …
And you’re sick of it.
Of course you are. Anyone would feel emotionally wrung-out at this point in time.
Please know that all of your feelings are natural. They are normal. You are normal. Welcome to the human race.
It can help to remember that you are not your feelings.
You are a person who has feelings.
You are bigger than your feelings. So, you need to be the boss of your feelings to avoid being swamped by a tsunami of sadness, despair, or other icky emotions threatening to take you down.
A good place to start is by tapping into the feeling of safety
Sadly, the vast majority of people I’ve worked with as a coach and healer have never felt safe. All their lives, they have felt attacked, judged, victimized, or put-upon.
So when something huge like COVID-19 happens, folks who don’t feel safe in their day-to-day lives can feel overwhelmed by the heightened confusion, fear, and anger that’s floating around in the air, in the media, and in the people around us.
